The jellyfish ... HAVE GROWNNN! Lol.

Photobucket

Well progress has been good. The installation is becoming very long in length; kind of different from the original mesh but only because we don't know what our site looks like so, the random length is random, as you can see.

Lao pan with her epic :O expression.

As you can see, it's a lot longer than I am.

We shall continue work until Friday! Yes yes. Aja aja hwaiting!

Our lecturer suggested that we made a teaser by the entrance of the church to allow people to catch a glimpse of what's in store for them on the inside of the building. Yay or nay? We have a few ideas but will finalize them by tomorrow once we've discussed with the rest of the group.

MORE UPDATES TO COME!

Today, we've begun making the clusters of jellyfish that make up the giant installation! Progress is going tremendously well; seeing as on the third day of sewing, we've already begun making huge clusters.

Photobucket
Tadaaaaaa! :D

Here's whart it would look like under light!

Photobucket

But of course, it would look more awesome under sunlight and against the bluest of skies!

Lao pan is gasping. :O

The commencement of this Jellyfish project officially began yesterday in campus!

A few days back, many of us went out to collect, what we call, "fruit mesh" to create this installation. Fruit mesh is the white and fragile plastic netting used to protect fruits when it is being transfered from supplier to the markets and shops. It's considered trash to most of the people who sell fruits so every day, fruit mesh is being thrown away instead of being recycled or reused. So, for us, it's an awesome opportunity to collect the material we need by taking away the sales peoples' trash. The best thing is, we save money! Haha. The only thing we have to spend on is th fishing thread for the sewing of the mesh. We collected mesh from pasar malams, Carrefour and Giant!

Photobucket
The mesh collected! There's more actually but it still doesn't cover the amount we need.

So back to the installation. Most of the members enthusiastically began work at the studio in Taylors Lakeside Campus. Our leader taught us how to sew the mesh, making it into an adorable jellyfish shape.

Photobucket
This is our "lao pan", showing the world a thumbs up for having an awesome group to work with. HAHA!

Photobucket
Concentrating.

Hard at work!

A few jellyfish were born!

For now, we're all continuing individually at home. Hopefully by Monday, we'll have made even more progress! Til then!

Hello everyone! So basically, this blog was created to show the development of a jellyfish project that a bunch of us Architecture students are making for an art exhibition happening in Malacca at the end of November 2010.

Photobucket

The installation was once done in the beginning of the year for a Studio assignment, but unfortunately, most of what had been originally made went missing. So we're starting over and hopefully, make the installation bigger and greater! :D
